Dan Arnold

Dr. Dan Arnold has practiced medicine on Cape Cod since 2009. He earned a BS in Biology at Providence College and his MD at the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Boston University/Boston Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident from 2008-2009.

Dr. Arnold founded Primary Care of Cape Cod in 2018. He started Veritas Direct Care in 2023 in order to transition to the Direct Primary Care Model of care. He believes in the importance of developing and maintaining a strong relationship between patient and provider, while also providing prompt access, convenience, and excellent services in the practice. Moreover, he believes that everyone benefits when health care providers work directly for their patients, and not for insurance companies, the government or corporations.

Dr. Arnold enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

Anne Marie Kelly

Dr. Anne Marie Kelly graduated from University of Maryland Medical School. She then completed her Internal Medicine training at University of Pennsylvania. She has been practicing Internal Medicine since 2004. She moved to Cape Cod in 2007 and worked at Cape Cod Hospital in the Department of Hospital Medicine. She was chief of Hospitalist Medicine for several years, prior to joining Dr. Arnold in Primary Care in 2019.

Dr. Kelly is from Baltimore, Maryland. She attended undergraduate at Georgetown University, received a nursing degree and was a critical care nurse for 5 years before heading back to medical school. She is a former Division 1 athlete, and remains active in sports and fitness. She continues to strive to balance work, fitness, and raising 3 children. She resides in Centerville, Massachusetts.

Sarah Edwards

Sarah is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Veritas Direct Care since 2022. She was born and raised in southern Vermont, spending her summers here on Cape Cod before eventually returning to the area to put down roots and raise her family. Her and her husband welcomed their first child in 2022 and second child in 2025.

She earned her undergraduate degree from University of Massachusetts Boston in 2015 and began her nursing career working as a registered nurse at Emerald Physicians and later at Primary Care of Cape Cod. She went on to earn her Master’s degree from Simmons University in 2019 before starting her nurse practitioner career with Yale New Haven Health, specializing in inpatient diabetes management. She later transitioned back into primary care, where she fostered her true passion in building long-term relationships with patients and supporting overall wellness.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she is passionate about preventative care, chronic disease management, and helping patients achieve their healthiest and most balanced lives. She believes in compassionate, personalized care that focuses not only on treating illness, but on optimizing long-term health and wellbeing.

Michelle “Shelley” Thomas

Shelley is a Family Nurse Practitioner in our Direct Primary Care Office. She was raised here on Cape Cod. She completed her undergraduate Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 2009. She went on to work in Intensive Care Units at a level one trauma Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire, as well as the Cardiovascular ICU at Cape Cod Hospital. She also has worked in outpatient Cardiac Rehab in Hyannis and has taught CNAs at Cape Cod Community College for years as well. She completed her Master’s of Science in Nursing from Simmons College in 2017. Since obtaining her NP license, she has found her passion in primary care and has worked in the field ever since. Her background in ICU, as well as in teaching, has laid an excellent foundation for her knowledge and skills as a Family Nurse Practitioner in primary care. She has a passion for keeping patients out of the hospital, trying to maintain health and wellness, and preventing disease progression. She strives to work with patients to meet a mutually agreed upon plan of care and set patients up for success in their health. She appreciates the ongoing relationships that develop from working in primary care and seeing patients through their years of health. She and her husband live on the Cape with their son, where they plan to raise him in the town they both grew up.

Knowing the difficulty you might face in getting to appointments, Shelley will also be including some prescheduled evening and Saturday telehealth appointments to help accommodate her patients who need these appointments outside of normal working hours which are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 8-4. Check with the office regarding the availability of these dates.

Andrea Lyonnais

Andrea Lyonnais is a Physician Assistant. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology. She completed the PA program at Northeastern University in Boston to earn her master’s degree. She also has a certificate in plant-based nutrition and is currently working on a certificate in herbal medicine.

Andrea started her PA career in Bakersfield California in 2004 where she worked at a community health center. From there, she moved to Cape Cod and worked at Emerald Physicians. In 2018 she started at Primary Care of Cape Cod, which is now Veritas Direct Care.

When Andrea is not working, she is spending time with her husband and 3 active boys. If they are not enjoying the youth activities the boys participate in, they love to explore the great outdoors and travel.

Andrea believes that a healthy life starts with a healthy lifestyle. She enjoys working with patients to help create and maintain a healthy lifestyle which she hopes will lead to a high-quality happy life.

Giuliana Cucciniello

Giuliana Cucciniello is a physician assistant. She earned her master’s in physician assistant studies in 2020 from Seton Hall University. She was born and raised in New Jersey. She began her healthcare career as an EMT during her undergraduate years. She worked with a local volunteer first aid squad for 4 years, which is where she learned of her passion for medicine & serving her community.

She moved to the Cape 6 years ago to start her career in Primary Care. Giuliana has worked at Veritas (formerly Primary Care of Cape Cod) for the past 6 years and is committed to continue her career here. Giuliana believes in the power of education as a means to prevent chronic diseases. She takes the time to understand her patients’ individual health concerns, ensuring they receive guidance throughout their wellness journey.
In her free time, she enjoys crafting, spending time with her 4 beautiful cats, and running.

William “Will” Lary IV

William “Will” Lary IV PA-C- Born and raised southern New Hampshire, lived in New England most of my life. Studied Psychology and Biology in undergraduate school at Fitchburg State University. Prior to working in multiple clinical situations, providing direct patient care and managing memory care for a number of years in assisted living. At this time, I decided to go back to school to pursue my Master of Physician Assistant Studies at MGH’s (Mass general hospital) Institute for healthcare professions. I have always had a passion for preventative medicine, geriatrics, and memory care. In my free time I enjoy being active with Running, biking, fishing, and home renovation. My wife and I live on the Cape and I am honored to be able to provide care to help promote a healthy, productive local community.

Mike Cefole

PharmD

Dr. Cefole received his PharmD in 2017 from MCPHS University in Boston, MA. He joined Primary Care of Cape Cod in 2022 after working in the retail pharmacy industry for over a decade. He specializes in the treatment of cardiometabolic disorders, specifically diabetes and obesity management. Dr. Mike resides in Yarmouth Port with his wife Jen and his children Samuel, Natalie, and Lucas. William Manning MD

Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Manning has been practicing on Cape Cod since 1982 and will be able to see all orthopedic problems here at Veritas. Dr. Manning has an extensive referral base of surgeons if conservative therapies are not successful.

Dr. Manning went to Colgate University in New York, and then Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin Ireland for his MD. He then went to Yale-New Haven in CT for his General Surgery Residency and University of Connecticut School of Medicine for his Orthopedic Residency.

Dr. Manning will see patients in office for ortho consults on Wednesdays.

Bethany Emmel

Board-Certified Nurse Coach | Integrative Health & Wellness

Bethany Emmel is a Registered Nurse and Board-Certified Nurse Coach, certified through the American Holistic Nurses Association. She completed her Nurse Coach training through the Integrative Nurse Coach Academy and has over 12 years of experience working in Primary Care.

Bethany earned her nursing degree from Cape Cod Community College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UMass Dartmouth. She has completed advanced training in trauma-sensitive care and is HeartMath certified. Bethany also holds certifications as a GGS-1 Women’s Coaching Specialist and a GGS Menopause Coaching Specialist, and has additional training in Functional Medicine Nutrition for Nurses through the Integrative Nurse Coach Academy and the Institute for Functional Medicine.

Bethany is passionate about using an integrative, whole-person approach to health, blending evidence-based medical care with holistic lifestyle practices. She specializes in coaching individuals on nutrition, exercise, and stress management, helping patients make sustainable changes that fit their real lives. Bethany values education as a core part of her work and enjoys teaching in both individual and group settings. At Veritas Direct Care, Bethany works collaboratively alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to help patients achieve their metabolic health goals through a holistic and personalized approach.

As a busy parent herself—married with three young children and a dog—Bethany understands how overwhelming life can feel. She brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her coaching, having used lifestyle changes to achieve weight loss and manage hypertension. She believes coaching is most effective when it is personal, practical, and tailored to each individual’s unique circumstances. Outside of work, Bethany enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach, hiking with her kids and dog, reading, listening to podcasts, and being outdoors.
